I first met Sean Mason and MASON HOMESTM in my precious position as President of EnerQuality Corporation and have always considered both Sean himself as well as MASON HOMESTM to be among the leaders in the construction of green homes in Ontario. The company has been a leader in the adoption of a variety of innovative building techniques as well as a leader in having their homes certified to meet stringent standards for energy and environmental performance. Sean has continued to demonstrate his leadership by volunteering to be on the Board of EnerQuality Corporation, thereby assisting other builders to build more energy efficient homes.

EnerQuality takes great pride in recognizing MASON HOMESTM as a driving force for green in Ontario’s homebuilding industry.

As an early pioneer, MASON HOMESTM was one of the first organizations to adopt ENERGY STAR® for New Homes Program. To date, over 500 of their homes are ENERGY STAR® or better. Not one to rest on their laurels, MASON HOMESTM voluntarily went above and beyond energy efficiency considerations by introducing water conservation, indoor air quality and resource management practices in their own Green for LifeTM program.

Sean Mason strongly advocates sustainable green-building practices and pushes for greater engagement from all sectors — government and industry alike — to do more. We salute the contributions and achievements of MASON HOMESTM and wish them continued success in the future.

Sincerely,
Corey McBurney
President

With energy costs rising, buyers of MASON HOMESTM houses are more pleased than ever with themselves. On Jan. 6, MASON HOMESTM Ltd. was awarded with the Energy Star Industry Leader award by EnerQuality Corporation for being the first builder in the greater Toronto area to build all of its homes to the Energy Star standard. Energy Star houses are 40% more energy efficient than those built to Ontarlo's building code and can save owners up to $1,000 on annual utility bills. "Energy Star was launched this year with the hopes of transforming the new housing market in Ontario, and with industry leaders like MASON HOMESTM on side, I believe it will succeed, says Lenard Hart, director of business development for EnerQuality.

MASON HOMESTM have been actively involved with ERS and ESNH from the beginning. The team has been a pleasure to work with over the years and their leadership in energy efficiency is commendable!

Natural Resources Canada congratulates MASON HOMESTM in their leadership and initiative in building energy efficient new homes. MASON HOMESTM was one of the first builders to get involved in the EnerGuide Rating System for newly built homes and to begin promoting and labelling houses through the ENERGY STAR for New Homes Initiative in Canada. The success that the MASON HOMESTM team has achieved with their promotion of energy efficient houses has helped to transform the market place in Ontario. Congratulations!

Sean,

Thank you for your kind words at the Builder Forum.

You must know that I have the highest regard for you and for MASON HOMESTM as Canadian pioneers in green building. Few builders in Canada have provided the contribution you and your firm has to advancing green building practices in production housing.

MASON HOMESTM led Canada in its adoption of EnerGuide and ENERGYSTAR. You showed other builders how to integrate new methods, materials and equipment. Now you have moved on to your own in-house green housing standard.

I have watched how in a few short years you have taken a traditional building company and moved it to the forefront of the homebuilding art. Congratulations. I look forward to watching how you continue to evolve MASON HOMESTM to the benefit of your homebuyers and ultimately all Canadians.
